Our Celebration of Mothers

Mothers bring us into the world. They nurture and care for us when we are young and new. Mother’s ensure that we have the nourishment needed to grow and develop. They are there for us and help us through the seasons of life.

This is a lot like gardening. It is so rewarding for a gardener to walk around a garden and to see the growth and beauty that has resulted from the caring and nurturing that has taken place. The excitement of the discovery of the new flower bud that has appeared. The delight in seeing, what was a bud yesterday, is now a brilliant display of colour and beauty. Our Mothers share in our times of struggle and rejoice for us during the times of growth and reward.

Mother’s Day is the opportunity to say THANKS MUM for the life and growth that has been shared with us. Flowers and plants are perfect gifts to show our love and appreciation to those who have helped us to blossom.

Burbank House & Garden is full and overflowing with life and growth and the perfect place to find that special gift to celebrate our special Mother’s Love. These are just a few ideas.

Cyclamen are stunning gifts and love the cooler weather. They will continue to produce flowers through until the warmer weather returns.

Cymbidium Orchids are an excellent living flower arrangement indoors. They will last much longer than a bunch of flowers and once flowering is complete, can be tucked away under a tree to be divided and repotted for future seasons once the flower spikes have completely died back.

Chrysanthemums are a great gift to thrill Mum with and are often kept indoor while flowering and then can be cut back and planted to be enjoyed in the garden. There is a massive range of colours available to suit every Mum’s décor.

Indoor Plants are more popular than ever. There is a huge selection of lush healthy plants to grow indoors and something available for every budget.

Spathiphyllum or Peace Lily are an excellent plant with lush, green leaves and stunning long-lasting white copra head shaped flowers. Spathiphyllums are ideal for the darker spots in the house, as its light requirements are quite low.

Anthuriums are available with a wide range of striking flower colours and are an excellent plant in pots and are very easy to look after.

Phalaenopsis or Moth Orchids have become a very popular gift and are wonderful Mother’s Day plants. Lots of flowers in lots of colours.

Azaleas and Camellias are covered in buds and flowers at this time of year and are a great addition for Mum’s garden.

May is a great time of colour and celebration. There are pots, planters, containers and baskets overflowing with plants and flowers to brighten Mother’s Day. Burbank also has great gift shops and lots of ideas to delight Mum on her special day.
